Short description of the event:
The goal of the event was to show students the difficulties people with reduced vision can have in doing ordinary every day tasks, such as having a normal dinner meal.
In order to do that, the volunteers of ESN Porto issued the challenge to have a full dinner meal at a local restaurant, specialized in portuguese cuisine. Eight international students took the challenge and came with 4 ESN members to have a blind dinner. The ESNers stayed most of the time without the blindfolds to help the international students. They were blindfolded at the restaurant entrance and guided inside. They were asked during the dinner to identify what they were eating. They were also encouraged to talk to each other about the experience.
How did your event go?:
It went really well. Although next time it is maybe better to do it ourselves in a more controlled environment. In that way we can do a blind taste and even do other challenges connected with the lack of vision.
