Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The goal of the event was to make it possible for international students to experience what it is like to live with blindness. Experience like this should make them more aware of the challenges that the blind are facing every day and be therefore more emphatetic.
Short description of the event:
The Invisible Exhibition is a simulation of everyday environment where people move, such as a flat (kitchen, bathroom, dining room), street (with cars etc.), forest, gallery (with famous sculptures that the students should recognise by touch) and a bar (where the students had to pay with coins and choose the correct ones only by touch). The whole exhibition was in complete darkness and the students were led by a blind guide who helped them move around without major problems. The students could touch everything and see the potential dangers of everyday life of the blind (for example in the street). At the end, there was time for Q&A.
How did your event go?:
The event went very well, the students were very keen to learn about the life of the blind The locals also seemed to enjoy it very much. Next time we would improve the promotion as there was capacity for more people but they did not join.
