Description
Aim of the event:
  • Promote mobility
Goal of the event:
The goal of the event was to raise the Erasmus' awareness about the theme of disability, in particular we wanted them to experience how does it feel when you are blind and you are visiting a museum.
Short description of the event:
We were a Group of 20 students and we went to the Tactil museum in Ancona, one of the few museums of this genre in Europe. It is thought in particular for blind people, because the visitors can touch the works of art. There are copies of famous ancient statues but also original contemporary art works. As the students arrived there, they were blindfolded, then the guides of the museum brought each of them in front of a different work of art.. They had to touch it in order to understand its shape, size or lenght. After some time of "research" made only by hands, the students, no more blindfolded were brought in another room where their task was to draw the statue that they had touched before. After drawing it the guide let them visit visit the Whole museum and they had to find the statue they had drawn.
How did your event go?:
Most of the participants found this museum very interesting and they told us that this type of visit was funny and that it made them think about what does it mean to be blind. They found the activity of touching the statue without seeing them so challenging that after they had made their draw, they wanted to make it again, so someone was blindfolded again and they only try to guess what they were touching. The drawings were also very accurate and faithful, so they did a great job!
